What's an eBook?
eBooks are a new publishing medium. An eBook (also spelled e-book) is a computer readable text file of a book. So imagine you have a printed book in your hands. Now imagine that every page of that book is all in one document on a computer. that's basically what an eBook is.
Practically any computer can open an eBook. eBooks are usually PDF files opened on a computer with Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, Apple's Preview, or a web browser. Usually eBooks are text searchable, so you can look up words and phrases in eBooks to find what you are looking for very quickly. They are easy to use, read, print, take with you on hardware, etc.

One method of reading eBooks on the go is with hardware like eBook readers (i.e. Amazon's Kindle and Sony's Reader). Several smart phones, iPods, and other media players can open them too.
That's what you need to know for starters. Still don't get it? For more technical information, see what Wikipedia has to say about eBooks.
